Mr. Pretty Okafor, an illustrious pioneer of Afro Hip-Hop Music in Africa and current PMAN President, is set to inspire students at the Techtainment Forum. A part-time Fine Arts student at Yaba College of Technology, Pretty Okafor graduated to fame as part of the dynamic duo, Junior & Pretty. In the early 90s, they revolutionized the African music scene with their unique Afrobeat sound, blending folklore, street experiences, and indigenous languages.
Their debut album, FUFU FLAVOUR, featuring the hit song “Monica,” captivated audiences across Africa. Released in 1990 under Storm Records, it dominated Nigerian and African radio and television charts for 18 months, selling over 2.6 million copies. In 1992, their second album, LEGACY, with the monster hit “Bolanle,” achieved even greater success. Selling over 6 million copies, this album took Junior & Pretty on an all-African tour and remained on the charts for nearly three years.
Their third album, NO PAIN NO GAIN, released in 1994 by PolyGram, featured the hit song “Fatima,” which resonated across religious and cultural divides. This album, the highest-selling of their career, sold over 9 million copies and topped charts across northern African countries for 24 months consecutively.
